One Night at the Call Center is a novel by great novel writer
from India Chetan Bhagat and was first published in 2005. This was the first
Chetan Bhagat novel that I read and been a great fan of him since then. The
novel is concentric around a group of six call center employees working at the
Connexions call center in Gurgaon, Haryana, India. It’s a novel about love but
preferably I call it comedy as it takes place during one night, during which
all of the leading characters confess some aspect of themselves or their lives
they would like to change in front of so called god by author. It all began
with a phone call from unknown number at one night. The book was the second
best-selling novel from the award winning author after Five Point Someone.
The story began when author was on a train ride from Kanpur
to Delhi and a young attractive lady sits next to him. She had known the author
as he was renowned for his first published book. She had a story for him but
would tell him in one condition that this should be his second book. After a
bit of hesitation the author agrees.
It is a story about six people, three guys and three girls
who worked as agents in the Connexions Call Center. The lady told the story
from the perspective of Shyam Mehra, or Sam Marcy as they call him at work
place. Sam was the black sheep of the family as his every cousin had become
doctors or engineers. He was working there as with money worlds give you some
respect. Quails first picked him at 8:55 pm. Quails picked so called military uncle
by all other characters in play who was 50 plus retired military man boycott by
his son and daughter in law.
The quails moved to radhka jha or agent Regina Jones’s house. She
was married to anuj three years ago and used to take care of anujs traditional
family. Then esha was picked up whose dressing sense was impeccable as she
wanted to become model but was struggling. Esha was 5.5” and was from

everyone called him vroom because of of his love for anything on wheels. But he
preferred to go on his bike. He used to live with his mom. His dad was a

At 9:30 pm quails picked up Priyanka who broke up with Sam 4 months ago. They
both were in college together. But now Shefali was Sam’s new semi-girlfriend
who used to work at same call center but before Sams shift.
He sit next to Vroom, while Priyanka is right opposite me;
Esha is adjacent to Priyanka and Radhika sits next to Esha. The bay is an
open plan, so they can all see each other’s. Military Uncle’s chat station was
at the corner of the room At each of the other three corners, there are,
respectively, the restroom, a conference room and a stationery supplies room.
They all had their own problems with life. One night Sam
hears of marriage proposal for Priyanka by one well settled guy from US.
